BDP Project Logistics sets up oil and gas subsidiary

Source: The Business Times, December 18, 2009 – (SINGAPORE) BDP Project Logistics is jumping into the oil and gas sector by setting up a Singapore-headquartered subsidiary to chase global opportunities in the oil and gas supply chain.

BDP Oil and Gas Logistics will extend BDP’s offerings to include mid and upstream market activities within the supply chain, allowing the group to offer total solutions.

BDP Project Logistics and its parent company BDP International are already recognised as leaders in the energy, chemicals and petrochemical logistics business. Customers include Shell, ExxonMobil, DuPont, Dow Chemical Company, Invista and Quinn Chemicals.

Martin Runshaug, commercial director of BDP Oil and Gas Logistics, said the subsidiary was formed to meet the need for a logistics services provider that can offer total solutions based on quality, health, safety, environment and compliance.

‘BDP Oil and Gas Logistics will service clients across the entire oil and gas value chain, he said. ‘The new company combines BDP’s two principal strengths – its position as a global leader in the downstream sector, as well as its expertise in project logistics.’

Mr Runshaug reckons the energy sector will boom in the coming decade as exploration and production surge to meet the demands of emerging giants such as Brazil, Russia, India and China.

‘BDP Oil and Gas Logistics expects significant activity in the Middle East, the Commonwealth of Independent States, West Africa, Brazil, Vietnam, China, India, and Australasia, as well as the Arctic region,’ he said.
