BDP forms global project logistics engineering division

SINGAPORE and NUREMBERG, GERMANY, November 11, 2008 – BDP Project Logistics has established an engineering division to support its global activities. The new unit will provide professional route surveys, method statements and infrastructure-related structural engineering calculations, as well as technical methods for lifting and positioning heavy-lift equipment.

“These services, among others, are increasingly required by our target verticals, such as EPC contractors, power generation, mining and the chemical and petrochemical industries,” said Luc Van Heygen, BDP Project Logistics managing director. “Establishing a dedicated division to provide these value-added services makes us one of very few project forwarding companies able to offer in-house engineering solutions to increasingly complex infrastructure problems.”

Heading the new division is Hendrik Wagner, who recently joined the company at its regional headquarters in Nuremberg, Germany . In January 2009, the division will relocate to new quarters in Leipzig. Wagner brings nearly 20 years of experience to BDP, most recently as senior project engineer and branch office manager for the Setzpfandt Group, a structural and civil engineering firm where he worked with BDP on a major chemical plant expansion project in Germany. He has also worked as an independent bridge surveyor and inspector. Wagner holds a degree in civil engineering from Bauhaus-University Weimar.

BDP Project Logistics is a subsidiary of BDP International (BDP), one of the world’s leading privately held freight logistics/transportation management firms.
